Sunlight is really white light.
Inside it there are many colors, like red, yellow, and blue, all mixed together.
When light travels through the air, blue light spreads in many directions more easily.
So when we look up, lots of blue light reaches our eyes, and the sky looks blue.

昼とはぜんぜん色がちがうね。The color is totally different from daytime.
光がないと、空気の中で散らばる光もほとんどない。

At night, sunlight no longer reaches the place where we are.
The sun is on the other side of the Earth, so the sky above us doesn’t get its light.
Without sunlight, there is almost no light to scatter in the air.
So the sky looks black, or very dark to our eyes.
